The Manhood Tree Men's Health Initiative
The Men’s Health Initiative
Men’s Health is Community Health.
Men’s Health is Family Health.
The health and wellbeing of men directly impacts the strength of families and communities. Fathers, brothers, sons, and friends play critical roles in the lives of those around them. When men neglect their health, physically or mentally, the ripple effects are felt across entire households and neighborhoods.
The Men’s Health Initiative, led by The Manhood Tree and My People Community Services, was created to encourage men to take ownership of their health and to normalize conversations about wellness among men.
This initiative was inspired in part by the untimely passing of actor Chadwick Boseman, whose death from colon cancer reminded the world that serious health issues can often go undetected when regular screenings and medical visits are delayed. His passing helped bring renewed attention to the importance of preventative care and early detection.
In response, the Men’s Health Initiative began encouraging men throughout our community to:
Community Health Partnerships
Since launching the initiative, we have partnered with leading healthcare institutions and community organizations to expand access to health resources and education.

These sessions allow participants to:
Monthly Brotherhood Check-Ins
Health is not only physical, it is also emotional and mental.
The Brotherhood Check-In is a monthly gathering where men come together in a safe and supportive space to talk honestly about life, relationships, fatherhood, stress, and personal growth.
These conversations help men:

Men's Health is Women's Mental Health
Self Care Saturday
Men's Health Event Artist Collective, December 18. 2021
At the Men's Health Event, we pulled together a group of panelist who where experiencing different health issues to share their stories with the community. Our hope with this event was to provide information from individuals with lived experience and to provide audience members the opportunity to receive various screenings that would provide them information about their health. Also, our goal was to encourage participants to go to the doctor and get checked. Check out the video below for the entire program.which was streamed live on online.
